Alko Spare Wheel Carrier on a Bailey Ranger S5 510/4

In order to keep my noseweight down and save space in the boot, i am looking at buying an Alko underslung carrier. I have 2 questions for any other 510 owner who may be able to help.

1. Is the correct model number to order 241859 (i get the distance between the chassis member to measure 1360mm)

2. Have you had any trouble fitting it to the chassis. From looking under the van the grey waste tubes run alomg side the holes in the chassis with only a small gap (is it enough to fit the split pin end of the carrier).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there

I have a bailey Ranger 460/4 ser 5 2008 would like to do the same as you.I have also found wast pipes in the way and wireing to tail lights run in middle of the van just where the spare wheel would site. Would need to change to much under the van cost would be high. So have given up.

Hi

We have a bailey ranger 460/2 and had a spare wheel carrier fitted by our dealer at the time of the service at no extra cost. Perhaps you could try this as it really does reduce the noseweight considerably.

We had a 510/4 but the Alko spare wheel carrier was already fitted when we got it so I assume that the pipework either accomodated the carrier or was able to be moved so that it would fit.

Not quite the same but I've fitted a Alko wheel carrier to my Ranger 550/6 - I just asked my dealer for the correct type and then went home and fitted it is about an hour, the holes were already in place, it was just a case of assembling the frame sliding it in place and securing it I found no need to move any pipe work on the caravan at all and it has helped in managing the noseweight.

Regards, Bill
