Can anyone suggest a course of action, as a friend is unable to either fully lift or engage the lever as it takes so much force - even I struggle.

During the van's annual service nothing could be found wrong. The correct ball is fitted to the car.

I find mine quite tight also. I sometimes have to put my back against the car and push the handle down with my foot. But there again better be tight than slack

hi there, inside the aks you have 3 pads 2 either side one at the top the side ones wear the most it should be really stiff that means its working.
