An old Isabella awning

I'm looking to buy an old period Isabella awning to match my classic car & caravan - it needs to be a late 1970's or early 1980's; it must be 775cm - would be extremely grateful if anyone can help.

Hi David, welcome to the Practical Caravan forum.
You may have noticed that the two postings that you submitted hadn't apeared on the forum. I forwarded an email to you giving details of how to activate the compatibility mode of Internet Explorer, but on further inspection it would appear that your forum signature, coupled with your avatar photo had overloaded the built in limited capacity of your membership profile page.
Unfortunately I had to remove the signature, and the text of your postings immediately re-appeared. You could try adding it again not using colour to see if it will work because it's usually a combination of text and colour which causes the overload.

Hi David
You might receive more responses if you add you request to the Practical Caravan Facebook page, renewing the request every couple of weeks. Scroll down to the bottom of the forum page and click on the f logo on the bottom right. You could also place a 'wanted' advert f.o.c. in the Practical Caravan magazine.
I'm just reading about your Carlight restoration, very interesting indeed.

I've spent an enjoyable couple of hours reading your blog David, your work was truly a labour of love which shows in the end result.
Congratulations!

Hi this looks like an Isabella http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Caravan-Awning-/190824810943?pt=UK_Campervan_Caravan_Accessories&hash=item2c6e0b89bf Hope it helps

Thanks Connie,
If it is an Isabella it's not old enough for me! There are some awnings that look like Isabellas that are merely made under licence. Isabella awnings from the 70's & 80's have sectioned windows and trademark circular windows in the doors. The colours changed each year but were very vibrant.

We have a pre 1993 Isabella combi 680 awning the does not have the circular windows, that was the year they introduced them on the combi awnings. On the Isabella web site there are all the brochures through the years. Thats how we found out how old our awning was. The older awnings have a frill along the front, in the brochures you can work out when they stopped production of the awnings with the frill.

Yes true, Isabella stopped the circular windows for a while....but for me 1993 is a modern awning!
I have all the brochures from 1976 to 1984 and thie awning you have identified isn't contained in such old brochures, so it's not for me I'm afraid.

Hi saw your message.
Yes I have a 1980s Isabella awning which will fit from 775 to 800 cm. It has not had a lot of use (usual couple of holidays per year) and is in generally good condition. When I changed my caravan 5 years ago I had it professionally altered so as make the track bead a little long. Was in use until this last summer when I again changed the caravan and its not long enough for the latest one. Steel frame. Pegs and various spare bits and pieces. I've hunted high and low for a photo but cannot find one at the moment. Colour.. Tan roof. pale orange and green walls. Set of curtains included. Reproofed early 2013. I'm looking for about £85.00 which I feel is a real bargain.
I live just outside Southampton.

Hello Keith,

It sounds like your awning may be older than the Isabella that I've been able to find; so I'm certainly very interested. I'm not so sure that my wife will be so happy though at the prospect of me buying another one. How can I contact and are you? I certainly would need to see a picture but if that's not possible perhaps you could un-roll it when the weather is better next spring and then take a picture of it flat - I doubt it will be going anywhere before then!

Tried to find an actual photo without success yet. Yes will unroll etc and photo if we get some suitable dry weather. Example photo sent in another reply to you. We used it origionally with a 1978/9 Lynton Executive caravan which we still have and us as a tea room at our stables.
