And as the world turns, and my summer holiday approaches, we get Storm Miguel of all things. Just when we want the seas in Cornwall to be warming up and the ground drying out, we get the opposite.

Its the same the whole world over
Caravanners take the pain
Whilst the rich get all the sunshine
Caravanners get the rain

Sir Poetic perhaps?

It is supposed to be summer as less than 17 days to the equinox yet how heating at home fired up this morning and it is set to 18C! Away next week and the forecast does not look good. Beginning to regret that this year for the first time in along time we never booked to go to France or Spain even though the weather is not so good there either!

I’m certain that the storms are linked to when Kay and I are due to go on holiday! We’re due to set off this afternoon for the overnight Hull to Zeebrugge ferry. Strong winds forecast en route.

It was exactly the same last year!

Perhaps IF we go in future, I’ll let folk know what date we’re booked to leave, so if they’ve got any plans for travel, there’ll be plenty of time to cancel them.

:S

Off to Exebridge on 23rd for a few days, then onto Trethem Mill for three weeks. This time last year was so hot, my air awning exploded.

Too much sunshine can spoil one.

Yep, and Ill take a spoiling any day B)

Currently pitched on the banks of the river Severn thought we might end up in it if the rain had carried on.

You went the wrong way. Glasgow is hotter and dry at the moment although some rain might come tomorrow.

Hmm, since the BBC weather contract went to Meteo Group I have to disagree. Their forecasts don't even agree between different levels of detail (in my case, national vs East Anglia). The Met Office for our part of the world is still the most accurate - and I have a special interest in weather due to my lifelong sailing hobby

I just take each day as it comes , if it rains I hope its when I'm at work & if the sun's out - bonus , we're not away until we go to France now in August anyway so it can do what it wants but I'd rather have the sun anytime ! B)

Our grandson is in Bangkok at present and he has never seen so much rain in his entire life. The water is gushing down the main streets and it is at least 12 inches deep and it has only just started raining. He sent us a video clip of the scene. Glad we are in the UK.

Has anyone read a caravan magazine showing other than folks enjoying the great outdoors with vino, bbq, and a host of leisure activities. Never have I seen a magazine extolling the joys of holding your awning down at 0230-0800 because of high winds and a sandy hardstanding absorbing copious quantities of water. And that was one August. Several other such experiences as well.

I have to admit that it's all my fault....

.... I put a tent up in the garden the other week. It's not stopped raining since!

I'm making myself available for drought hit regions.

The automatic lights on my car come on in bright sunshine, but do not come on in fog. This is also true for OH car. No excuse for having no lights, but easy to get lulled into trusting the technology.
