I should have mentioned that we are looking at about £12k max as all the additional adds on like towbar, awning, water containers etc all add up.
If you go for a caravan within the towing limit of your car you will need to reconcile the differences compared to what you are used to when caravanning in a top end Buccaneeer. Space will be more limited, lounge seating less comfortable, bed mattress may need topper, heating most likely blown air, not Alde, kitchen space more restricted, shower if provided with a separate cubicle more restricted fir space. It’s doable but it will require considerable adjustment compared to life in a top end caravan. If going on a seasonal pitch the caravans empty weight could be equal or near your cars limit, then the caravan could be filled up via separate journeys. Or a caravan above the cars limit could be towed via another vehicle and set up on the seasonal pitch.

Maybe approach it from a different angle.

Buy a used 4x4 eg Santa Fe or Sorento complete with towbar etc.

Then your choice of caravan is very free ranging. Your budget will match a pretty good used van. As you know many older caravans are actually in better order than newer ones especially when the owner has cared for it properly.

The Hyundai is only 3 months old so exchanging it for a older vehicle is probably a non starter. OH is not too keen on us towing again and prefers a fixed location which may allow us to look for a can with a higher MTPLM? A concern is finding a suitable site and location that has seasonal pitches available if we go ahead with the purchase. Around Weston Super Mare seems to be one of the options and 90 minute drive from home.

Previously we started small working our way up. The only time we really sit in the caravan is in the evenings as most of the day we are out and about. We still have almost all of the kitchen, bedroom and washroom stuff from the Buccaneer. We have not ventured out yet to see any in person preferring to wait until the New year.

It will depend on how many times a year you intend to go away, but if your looking at seasonal sites, then it might be worth looking at alternative strategies such as renting a caravan, or using ABB's etc

If you add up all the costs of establishing a touring caravan, such as changing or modifying tow car, Cost of caravan, site charges, not forgetting winter storage, servicing, keeping gas supplies topped up, the worry about it being damaged or stolen, repairs insurance etc you might fid the alternative are more palatable.

All the above is why at the moment I am 50/50. OH was the one who wanted us to sell up the caravan, but in hindsight having dogs, maybe it ws not such a good move.

Our biggest obstacle with renting is medical appointments as some come up with less than 48 hours notice. Recently we had to cancel a medical appointment as we were over 100 miles away from home when they called . We had only just arrived at the destination. Sadly OH had to then wait over 2 months before see could see the consultant again.

In my opinion at the moment seasonal seems to be the way forward as saves towing and upgrading car.

Buying from Highbridge they will deliver for you to many of the sites in Weston super Mare area so size and weight would not be a problem.
