Anyone negotiated a discount with Hal-Locate?

I am in discussion with Hal-Locate about not renewing the service at the end of our free 1st year with Swift.

The renewal will be £200 for two years cover and now includes all phone rental and text charges. But it has to be paid up front.

I have checked with my insurer and at best I will see a £140 reduction in the premium next year for keeping the tracker and possibly less. The premiums are paid on an interest free policy over 12 months.

So right now I am seriously considering kicking the Hal-locate device into touch.

The device fitted in Baileys seems to cost £40 p.a. to renew cover or £99 for a lifetime renewal with same owner. This is more like it and gives a real incentive to keep a tracker live.

Has anyone been able to haggle with Hal-Locate to reduce the renewal?

Tony,

My service will run out in March 2010 so I am very interested in your post.

Please keep us posted as to how you get on .

Cheers,

Jim

Hi Martin,

No, your calculation is spot on.

My insurer was a bit vague though and so I am calling them again tomorrow to ask exactly what it will cost me for the balance of this year's cover if I cancel the tracker in early December. (Our policy renewal is February). And then what it will cost in February for renewal thereafter.

My thinking was that spreading the difference in cost over two years of monthly payments (assuming a small difference) was better than paying
