Lord Sugar let loose his hapless bunch on an unsupecting crowd at a Caravan show - and the results with either be laughable (which so far has been - since some of them didn't even know what a carrot looked like or think a box is the next big thing) Or be so cringe worthy.

I dont know whether to watch it or hide in fear of it destroying the industry and its image..

My wife and i are in our 40s we started caravanning in our 30s, I get the P taken out of my in work by the Anti caravan brigade, You know, the ones who would rather spend there hard earned money on a hotel in a warm country sleeping in a bed that has god knows who and what in it, eating food that gives you a bad stomach etc. these people go on to me about how i am getting old before my time etc and how i should be enjoying myself.
The thing is i am enjoying myself i get to go on holiday for as long as i want, i dont need to pay for car parking at an airport, i dont need to worry about waiting around at an airport, i dont need a passport i eat food i cook, and best of all i get to sleep in my own bed every night.
I have to say i was pretty annoyed at the Apprentice for painting a picture that all caravanners are old and i thought that Lord Sugar would have picked up on the fact they were being age-ist at times. Not all caravanners are old we have met quite a few younger caravanners whilst on our travels.

John I had my first caravan when I was 25 and have never looked back. The Apprentice thinks ageism is a big factor. Boll***s

Yes, but did you note the opening statement in the "briefing" sequence. "The Caravan industry is worth £1bn a year". We may be old as far as the apprentices are concerned but we are worth a shed load of money (smug icon)

If we have another crappy summer, we are seriously going to consider selling the caravan and go for hiring cottages. You can get a nice cottage in the middle of the village for under £300 a week which is a lot cheaper than owning a caravan!
You save on depreciation, insurance, servicing and storage costs in addition to fuel towing costs. We love our caravan, but hate being stuck inside due to it sloshing down with rain outside. I am not the only one with these thoughts.

I don't know that I would want to spend £300 per week to sit in someone else's cottage when it's sloshing it down with rain outside.

Caravanning in the rain is just as much fun as caravanning in the sun. love to hear the rain hitting the roof of the van especially at night
