Firstly - sorry for the extra long subject heading.

From what I can gather, one connects to the normal Aquaroll and using a ball-**** mechanism, keeps the Aquaroll, permanently half full. The other provides water directly to the water inlet point (and hopefully regulates the flow of water). I'm presuming that you leave the mains tap switched on for both devices.

Can anyone share their experiences of these two devices, pros and cons. Recommendations please.

Hi,

I use the aquaroll mains kit & it's great if the water pressure is good. However i've found that when the supplied water pressure is low, the ball **** doesn't shut off fully and therefore the container fills and eventually overflows.

We were advised against connecting the mains water directly to the caravan by our local dealer, because if anything fails you end up with a flooded van.

I've only ever used the aquaroll mains adaptor kit so cannot comment on the mains source other than to say I was advised some years ago to be wary of that system because if anything fails on the valve you could end up with a very wet caravan.

I have used the mains adaptor when on a pitch with water supply for five or six years without problem. I'm surprised with Glenn's experience of the ball-**** not closing off when water pressure is low, I always thought this was worked by the water level rather than pressure. Could I suggest Glenn, next time you connect the adaptor have a look in the aquaroll from the top filler hole and check if the ball-**** is completely horizontal or sitting at an angle, that might be the cause.

Pros & cons - with either system you don't have to keep filling up water containers.

Aquaroll adaptor - you don't need to worry about water ingress problem if a valve fails, you always have a half tank supply of water (handy at the end of your stay, you can pack away the adaptor but leave aquaroll till you are ready to go). Downside is you still need an aquaroll.

Mains Adaptor - you don't need an aquaroll but potential problem if reducing valve were to fail. Must be honest and say I've never heard of anyone experiencing that problem.

Sorry - that should read "I have used the aquaroll adaptor..." not mains.

My personal choice is definitely the aquaroll adaptor, I bought the kit as made by aquaroll but a visit to plumber's supply merchant can furnish you with equipment needed to make your own much cheaper.

Aquaroll gets my vote, another plus is should the water supply fail as happened once abroad for about half a day, you still have 20 litres of water to use.

Then connect hose. Easy

Works great at a fraction of the cost.
