Well are we?

I mean look at that guy on the next pitch..That things enormous, twice the size off mine and ALL those mod cons!!

His car.. engines twice the size of mine.. looks more like a stretched limmo jobbie.

OR are we satisfied we have what we need/want and anything bigger/better/newer or flashier would just be an extravigant luxury.

For some years now ive gazed at others setups and drooled but now I`m where I want to be, happy and content.

We havnt got it all...we dont need it so why be jelous?

A quiet pitch, a place to rest my head at the end of an enjoyable day...isnt that enough?

Hi All

Good question.

From my point no I don't get jealous. We have a six year old tow car and a five year old van neither especially up-market. We don't treat our caravanning as our main or only interest as some do, if we did and it got more use we would probably invest more money in it I have other equally interesting hobbies (To me anyway) that I put above caravanning, for example my classic car. We also have a large house that we could downsize but we like our space. Then there are the foreign holidays we like to take a couple of times a year. All in all the caravan, while most enjoyable, is not at the top of our list to tie capital up in.

I don't get jealous, I've no desire to have something because someone else does, and I've no desire to try to impress anyone with what I have. I have the car I wanted and the caravan I wanted. What I much prefer to see on the next pitch is an ancient caravan in pristine condition.

Everyone is happy with what they start with, but as time goes on it get older and a bit more worn.....yes its fine to want something else...something better....

I think the problem comes when you dont have to save or wait or yearn for the next move.....its great to want, thats why most of us do the Lotto twice a week.

Don't have to save or wait and its not a problem.

People buy what they can afford or want, Sometimes its the same thing, others times its not.

All that matters is that you use your van and enjoy it. no matter how old, big or exspensive, its a box on wheels that you set up to be a home from home!

To be jealous of someone elses outfit is a terrible thing. I sometimes think I would have preferred a certain caravan than the one I chose but make the most of what I have. Even people just starting out caravanning in an older van should have no need to be jealous, it's your surroundings on site and how you enjoy yourself that matter more. If you enjoy touring, in even the oldest, dirtiest van thats all that matters to live a happy fulfilling life. I have never been jealous or know anyone who has been jealous.
