Hi Jo-anne
Am I right in thinking you are enquiring about Auchenlarie near Gatehouse of Fleet in Dumfries and Galloway. If it is you will find a number of review, including our 2005 one here

(ukcampsite.co.uk is generally an excellent website for campsite reviews)
Whether you would like Auchenlarie depends on what you are looking for in a site. I have known it for over 35 years, I lived in nearby Gatehouse of Fleet whilst doing what would now be called a "gap year" before college. I have returned as frequently as I can over the years with my own family
Dumfries and Galloway is generally a beautiful area but Auchenlarie is not one one of my favourite sites. It is a mainly static site with the touring pitches laid in circles and on sloping ground. I'm not a lover of commercialised sites generally but Auchenlarie is not too bad for this type. Looking at the Hoseasons website it looks as though Auchenlarie has extended its facilities somewhat. Another thing about the site is that it has a stunning, if rather windy, clifftop location, it is about 5 miles from the nearest small town,ie, Gatehouse of Fleet and there is nothing else nearby in terms of shops, pubs, etc.
There are lots of other sites in the area which I would recommend more. Mossyard just along from Auchenlarie, there are reviews on UKC, under Gatehouse of Fleet, is a lovely site on a working farm with its own private beach.
If you want to know of other sites in this area just post what you're looking for and I'll be pleased to advise. There is lots of lovely countryside and beaches but it is not strong on man made amusements!
Regards
Tim
