I have a Sorento XE auto. I have only towed 500 miles so far and am pretty impressed. My van weighs 1325kgs but you certainly get the impression it would cope with ease if I had a large van. I changed from a Nissan X-Trail because I wanted to try an auto box again. Off to Italy soon so that will be a real test.

I have had a sorento auto for the last year and towed about 4000 miles with it.

It really is a great tow care and handles everything with ease. The auto box makes it effortless towing - you can put it in criuse control and let the car do the rest.

You also have the choice of a manual override - I find this useful on hills etc. Sometimes all you want to do is put your foot down in 4th rather than go down to 3rd (as it would if you put your foot down in auto mode) So you get the best of both worlds with this model.

Hi,

I have a Sorento 04 with the 5 speed auto box. I much prefer it to a manual box, as it makes it so much easier in haevy traffic and when moving the van. I tow 1400kg and the box is rarely caught out. I have towed in France over the Massif Centrale in hot weather and the Sorento's cooling systems kept the needle dead steady. In a fit of enthusiasm I undertook a 4wd club day out on the Salisbury Plain Training areas and Wiltshire byeways. Over 75 miles in all the auto and diesel combination were well matched and relaxed. The penalty is a slight increase in fuel consumption and I get 22-24 towing and 28-31 solo.

Cheers
