Hi all, Simply cannot help myself. On returning to caravanning after many years break recently, on my first trip in our newish van, I ended up at a hard site where the ground was very hard and the stone layer was thicker than normal. The pegs supplied with my Kampa awning and or my new Sunncamp canopy were simply not suitable. That sparked a review of pegs available and I came up with this, let me say, a better bargain you will simply not find!

9" steel round pegs 8mm dia as strong as any you will ever find, a box of 25 now have a guess at the price?
£4.99......NO NOT EACH........FOR THE LOT.......ALL 25!
Outdoor Camping Direct, Yellowstone Steel Groundhog Pegs, Glow in the dark, all 25 for £4.99.
BTW I have also bought a 800 gram graphite hammer after exhausting my rubber and other hammers.

Thanks

Until the green plastic bits snap off and you have to use a claw hammer or pliers to get them out.

Yep they won't last that long until the plastic breaks. There must be a market for replacement plastic bits. I use the hardened twisted rock pegs which seem to have better quality plastic tops and grip very well in hardcore pitches. Gave up on the rubber mallet some years ago and always use the claw hammer for insert and removal. On grass sites I do sometimes use the red grp pegs as they grip well in soil.

They look a bargain but I have to admit the plastic heads are usually the problem. When pitching you often find them, or bits of them on the ground.

Looks pretty good. I use the longest wire nails I can find and fit each with a bath tap rubber washer - problem now is that simple tap washers like this and none too easy to find in quantity packs with all the new fancy taps having mixing capsules built in.

I've been using the same rock pegs for the last 5 years . They have a solid rubber/plastic topping which are still ok it's just some of the metal thread is a bit thin now for gripping the gravel pitches so for that price for 2o I'll maybe give them a go ! ( and pack a claw hammer into my bag just in case ) :p

When the plastic breaks off, slip a washer up to the head, and wrap an elastic around the peg to stop the washer falling off. Simple!

I got my lad to weld (tack) some big washers to mine.

They have gone up to £5.99 + £2.00 delivery , what do they think it is , Christmas ?

I won't be having them, the increase in price means Morag won't be having a new dress for Christmas, throws my budget for Morag's dress out of the burrow, I was splashing out already at £3.99 from Matalan for her wonderful wardrobe filler.

Damned Capitalists
