Awning lighting

Hi all, hope someone can help... I'm wondering what people use for lights in the awning. I bought some LED magnetic lights which "stuck" to the poles and gave off a good light for about an hour and then promptly died!

Can any of you give me some advice please?

Clint,

I'll think you'll find that most people will use the external 'awning' light fitted to the caravan for 'occasional' use. Where a more robust or even pleasant light is required - people will either fit (or have fitted) a 240v external power socket from which mains powered lights can be run.

Personaly, I use a low wattage 240v table tamp in the awning but do still like the comforting glow of a table candle as well.

I use two plastic bulkhead light fittings fitted with two Terrys spring clips that attach to the roof poles.

Each light has a 9 watt economy lamp in it.

These plug into the external mains socket via one of those green triple external sockets with the spike on the bottom.

We use 12v flourecent strip lights which clip on to the poles, either with crocodile clips straight on the battery if convenient, or with ciger lighter type plugs. One each end and it's like Blackpool!
