Awning pegs

Hi,

I've just bought a 2nd hand Isabella awning but it didn't come with any pegs. Can anyone recommend a decent peg to buy to use? I'm anticipating we'll only go on grass pitches but feel that metal pegs would be better.

I've been online but am none the wiser!

I have a bag of plastic pegs and a bag of metal. I find that plastic or the thin type steel pegs are good in grass and of course the metal rock pegs for hard standing and with them I use a claw hammer to get them in; then the claw to get them out. The other week I was on some soft hard standing (loose gravel) and when the wind blew the steel rock pegs came out. Yes at 2.30am wet and windy I then used some 10" 'V' shaped steel pegs and they cut through the soft top and griped in the earth below, solved the problem and the porch awning was steady as a rock.
I can only suggest get a good variety of different pegs and sizes.

Same as Tukums I have a mix of pegs with enough of each sort to fully peg the awning (Isabella) including its lower level storm points. Just to be on the safe side I alos have some long (12 in +) strong metal pegs which can be used for a thicker storm guy, but normal storm guy pegs would suffice on most surfaces. My conservatism arose after a long long sleepless night at CC Freshwater East where the pitches had a surface of gravel and an under bed of sand. The latter got very wet and the normal pegs just kept pulling out in the high winds so I had to string extra guys (Dorema at that time ) way out onto the adjacent grass, whist OH hung onto the awning for grim death. Even the Dorema storm strap pegs came out from the hard standing pitch substrate. Next morning I was in the local caravan supplies shop and they knew precisely which site I had come from and dug out the extra long steel pegs. So a few extra long lengths of guy rope come in very handy too.

Like the others we carry an assortment of steel, plastic, thick, thin, but mainly use the Heavy duty rock peg, Find they are suitable for most types of surface.
And just in case we carry a couple of these in case of high winds for the storm straps, dont pay these prices though if you only want a couple, go to your local pet shop or cheapy shop they are about £1.50 each
