Awning rail opening at chest height

My lunar van offers an awning rail opening at chest height but it is too narrow so I have to use the bottom of the rail which is not easy or good for the back. Does anyone have any suggestions please! I'm concerned about damage to the rail using household tools.

Hi Fraser,

Just ask the workshop at your local dealer to open it out a little for you. They will almost certainly have a nifty little tool with which they can prise it open. I have bought a couple of caravans that did not have the chest high opening at all - one Explorer Group and one Bailey - and it was one of the first things I'd ask the dealer to do before we took it away on the first day.

Cheers

Mike

There is a tool for opening the awning rail so you can feed the awning in.Difficult to explain it but its like a U with the gap the width of the alloy piece of rail.

Its about 6cms long and the depth of the U is about 1cm,it works by placing on the inner part of the rail and you bend it inwards.
