Awning Rail

I got a bargain at the weekend a brand new portch awning costing £429,for only £60,i tryed it this weekend only to get in the awning rail by about 90% and it was hard going then so in the end i gave up.I gather the rail may need cleaning so what is the best way of going about this, also the piece of the awning that goes into the rail,(could i wax this with anything)as being a new one it seems so stiff,Thanks for replys,

Eddie, you can get an awning rail cleaning brush from most dealers, but a nylon dishwashing brush is just as effective, or make up a "pull through" with some stout cord and a piece of cloth rolled to fit in the awning rail channel.

As for lubriicating, use either silicone spray, or some people use furniture polish with just as good results.

The stiffness will ease with use, don't put anything directly on the material.
