I need advice regarding my awning roof holding water. This my first awning, delivered last week. I erected it here at home so that I could avoid looking like a muppet when I take it on site.
The problem is at both end rafters, with water pooling on the corners. Where should the rafters be positioned on the van as the diagram is worse than useless. I have tweaked the tension, pole height, and rafter position.
All help will be gratefully accepted.

hi Turbo, it is difficult to describe from a remote position but basically you have put it up wrong, sorry!!!.
getting it right takes time and practice and every awning is different but there are a few ground rules that may help,
1. make sure all the poles are in the right place and orientated to the correct side (they may seem identical) but could well be handed once found colour code each joint with different tape or paint. so next time it cannot be wrong.
2. the front of the awning should be lower than the back and the centre higher than the sides.
3. side poles (the ones that go front to back ) should be near enough horizontal and not sloping up or down.
4. does the awning sit straight in front of van, (ie centre of awning in front of the centre of the van) and not skewed to one side.
5. does the side upright poles fit vertical or are they to be sat splayed out (spider fashion) this would lead to a slack point near the corners at the front.
6. after feeding the awning round the awning channel erect the fame loosy in position and peg down first the front corners 1 each side and then both ends (near the van) 4 pegs in all, once done adjust the poles so the awning is tight all over moving any of the pegs that seem to be in the wrong place, until all is square and tight especially the roof. then peg down the rest.
the symptoms you describe with water holding in the corners would suggest either the poles are wrongly assembled or the roof section is not tight enough,
hope this helps (but a photo would be better)

Thanks for your reply, I have the poles double checked and marked for the next time I use it. The van was level too.
I guess as you say I need practise. I shall take a closer look at the tensioning and positioning of the poles from the awning bead.
