In todays news there an article about a Whistleblower who has been dismissed from JLR. He was part of a TATA design team working on designs of VINFAST cars for a Vietnamese company. The cars had a number of issues that led him to question safety. In the US the national transport safety agency are also concerned. Because no action was being taken to correct the perceived faults the design engineer resigned. He then took an appointment at JLR but latterly was dismissed and he believes it was because of his previous attempts on Reddit to highlight his concerns over VINFAST.

However the headline makes big the issue being with “ electric cars”. Yes the vehicles affected are EV but the detail of the article doesn’t describe any electric powertrain or battery issues. Bad mechanical design, poor manufacture and software issues. All of which could just as easily affect ICE cars.

Well you mentioned EV,s 3 times in your post.
Once actually EV is mentioned , plus "electric cars"

Thats because the BBC headlines focused on the whistleblower who was employed doing mechanical l design on Vietnamese EVs. Going by the article's headline you would think it was a problem associated with it being electrically propelled but it wasn't.

There I've mentioned "EV" again. Hope that doesn't cause angst.

There's a problem in the automobile world - in China the timescale to design/develop new cars is much quicker that the rest of the world and other manufacturers are trying to emulate this, leading to short cuts.

In the case in point, it's suspension parts and mounting points that failed at low mileages during testing of Vietnamese EVs at MIRA, near Nuneaton.

Many car buyers are shrewd enough not to buy a new model but wait until it's been in production a few years - with the headlong rush to new technology that's goint to be difficult.

I wonder if this is what the basement bargain or a dog🤔.
I thought all pure EVs were auto😉
No one can complain about its ability to knock up a high mileage in a relatively short time. BZ to ZS Despite the advert statement it’s out of warranty on mileage.

Add says its Auto in a few places. What are you querying? Rotary gear selection is PRND. Levers aren’t cool any longer, as per handbrakes too.
