A warning to anyone thinking of ordering a new caravan from an exhibition. I ordered a new Olympus 462 at the NEC show last October on the promise that it would be delivered in February/March 2011. We agreed a trade in, show special motor mover price and VAT at the 2010 rate. I have today received a letter form the dealer (Wandahome South Cave) saying the order has been cancelled by Bailey. They state "Bailey have made a decision to postpone any future commitment to Olympus builds until after the Pegasus 2 launch is complete." Odd, since we ordered 4 months ago that it is considered a 'future build'!
I think this is outrageous - we have booked a ferry and several sites in France, we have spent the winter looking forward too all the beneifts the Olympus promised and just before we expect to receive delivery we are told it's not going to be built. As it's Saturday, I can't get hold of any senior people at the dealership or Bailey, but have posted this as a thought provoking example of what can happen. Our hopes and expectations have been crudely dashed and we shall of course be looking for some sensible recompense as soon as possible,
I wonder, too how many others in this position - if so it would be an intersting comment on the value that is actually placed on public relations by Bailey of Bristol whose Olympus website is still fully functional.
