Bailey Pageant Bretagne Garage Door

Does anyone else have a problem with severe condensation on the inside of the door? What about a solution? I was thinking of buying a lower stable door and adapting it (I assume this is better made than the garage door.

hi robert

when we were looking at 6 berthers last year i seem to remember being told of a problem with this and on the ranger aswell.i know its no help to you now but im sure bailey know about this so i would quiz them immediately.

Bob we had a Bretagne, when we first had it we had a fair bit of condensation. Bailey did do a modification which involved having slated bed bases instead on solid ones on the bunks and also having wall board so air could circulate around the top bunk. We found that having the windows open on the ventilate setting made a big difference, and also not running the heating at night, which to be honest we rarely ever did.

I think part of the problem is that the door is metal, and therefore does get colder than the other surfaces at that end of the van so it gets condensation.

Bob...i've done a couple of these we had to fit condensation boards to the inside of the door ,your van is less than a year old so your supplying dealer should be taking care of this.

Mike J (and the rest),

Thanks so much for your prompt replies (glad I found this forum). We caravan year around and the winter doesn't lend itself to open windows and no heater. Also, we already have slatted beds. I fit an old bit of carpet in front of the door and make sure that our daughter's curtains are open, once she is asleep (she loves the cosy feel of her hideaway!).

I don't know what condensation boards are but agree with your comment about the metal facing being the problem - why didn't Bailey use a similar construction to the main door? I have to get the van serviced immediately after half term - does the agent need to order the part in (in other words, do I need to inform them now)?

I love the van in general - just this problem, the fact that the plumbing was wrongly routed (hot from cold tap, etc.), and the chassis had not been sufficiently tightened!!! Seriously though, I'd still buy another. Now, if only I could scrape together the readies for the Series 7.......
