Balancing Single axle caravan wheels

I have always kept my car wheels correctly balanced. My caravan is single axle with aluminium wheels. Has any member had their caravan wheels balanced... and found it an advantage particularly at the top end of the maximum speed for towing.

"Has any member had their caravan wheels balanced..."

Yes when having the Tyron Bands fitted by tyrer dealer and again on buying new tyres.

"and found it an advantage particularly at the top end of the maximum speed for towing."

Not noticed any difference but the tow vehicle is so remote from the van I would not expect to notice anything. Would panic if I did!

I just feel it is fundamentally right to have wheels balanced.

If you observe the huge amount of balance weights needed sometimes I am sure it must help cancel some significant vibrational forces.

Whilst at the tyre dealers its all in the price anyway.

I had the tyres balanced on my then new Bailey - given the size of the weights added, it's absolutely vital for ALL caravan wheels/tyres to be balanced.

I say balance your wheels, for what it costs.

My car once lost its balance weights on one wheel, and the resulting vibration could be felt through the steering wheel and through the seat of my pants.

I sometimes wonder if other peoples disintegrating vans are the result of vibrations from unbalanced wheels feeding into the caravan while towing. You would hardly expect to feel this through the towbar.

I have just fitted new tyres to my van and they did not require much in the way of weights to balance, however the weights which were taken off from the original tyre balancing were quite substantial.
