Battery Charging Basics

Dear all,

As I am new to caravaning and have just purchased my first, cheap, van I am in need of some advice. (Well quite a lot really)

I obviously need a Battery and as I will be staying on sites with elec hookup and am not planning on fitting a mover, I have been advised to buy a lower ampage battery (75amps I think it was). Can anyone advise to a cheap charger for this, I read somewhere that Aldi once sold an adequate unit, obviously now discontinued.

As physics was not my strong subject at school can someone also direct me to a "dummies guide to battery maintenance and care" site?

Your help in these matters will be most appreciated.

I bought one of the Aldi auto battery chargers mainly for use on my m/bike but I have also used it on my liesure caravan battery. Don`t know what area you are at but the Aldi at Throston Grange near Hartlepool still had quite a few left when we were in there about 3 weeks ago
