hi we got our van home last night but the battery was flat should it of been charging up whilst we were driving around got it on charge this morning and it was completely flat
 
You may need to read your caravan owners manual to confirm this, but some charge / controller systems have a switch where you can choose to either charge the van battery whilst towing, or power the fridge.
