BATTERY CONDITION

Can anyone tell me how to tell if my battery is still in good condition as i dont want to be let down come the season just around the corner by a dodgy battery i would rather replace now if need be, i dont know how old the battery is as it came 2nd hand with the 'van which is a 2004 elddis avante 534.

I had my leisure battery fail in January after 13 years usage.

It suddenly died and after 2 days charging, lit an 8 watt fluorescent light for less than a minute.

I had read about a device called a Sterling De-sulphator which claimed it could recover most batteries.

I bought one and connected to the battery whilst it was on charge and 2 weeks later the battery seems to be fully serviceable and powers my Waeco chest fridge OK.

I have now bought a second one which is permanently installed on my car battery.
