Berlingo 1.6 HDi

What’s the realistic weight to tow with a Citroen Berlingo 1.6 automatic?
I’ve had differing answers to this and would appreciate some sensible advice.
many thanks

Starting point must be to look at your cars specified towing limit. It may even be zero. Then find it’s kerbweight and as a guide for inexperienced the caravans maximum weight should be around 85% of the cars kerbweight. Assuming that this figure is within the makers maximum towing weight for your car.
With these figures we can give further advice.

Got talking to a couple at Run cottage touring park Suffolk they had the same car they were towing a Folding caravan 3 berth Esterel they brought it because it was lightweight 750kg it tows superbly so you are well under the 1100kg .

Fair bit of choice out there; Freedom, Eriba Trolls, or the new little Bailey Discovery, Swift Basecamp or the Adria Equivalent and then the really expensive specialist ones. the Xplore 304 looks really nice, or JUST-the sprite compact but you'd argue that was a bit close to max tow weight even for my liking!

Hi Silver Surfer, I looked at this websight for the 1.6 Berlingo
And it has come back with your unladen weight as being 1374kg, which would give you that good old 85% guess at 1175 kg. But the site doesn't state if the car can tow this weight. Have a look on your door post, data plate to see what the Max Train weight would be . The year of your car and BHP will help us a bit more.
Edit, also this link.

I had a Trigano Silver 420 DD pop top. It was extremely good quality and towed beautifully. For two it was fine but with granddaughter and two dogs it was too cramped. From memory MRO 750 kg, MTPLM 1000kg. Mine was 2008. Later versions went up to 1250kg, but not sure what the MRO was.
