How old is the battery?

Have you checked the charger output volts?

Any battery with a 2 year guarantee will do the job.

However if you use rally sites you may be better with a high end battery.

Kim,

We always use hook ups and don't have a motormover so we just have a 40Ah normal car battery to give us lights and water pump if the mains fails.

i. You want a "leisure type" battery, not a vehicle type.

2. If you have a motor mover fitted, then anything in the range 85AHr to 120AHr would be fine. If no mover, then, unless you are a keen "Rallyer",(ie use the van without hook-up for several days) then 65AHr to 85AHr would suit.

3. Batteries vary in dimensions considerably, dependant on make/construction, particularly in height and the location of

connection terminals. Check the dimensions of your battery box, and battery very carefully before parting with your money!

Have you checked the charger operation when you are on electric hook-up? The charger output should put a minimum of 13.7 volts across the battery terminals (ie float charging) when operating. If this is not the case then do not be too quick in condeming your battery. You may have a fault with your 'van charger!

Hope this is helpful

Many people think their battery is shot and throw it away when, with a little TLC, it can easily be recovered.

The secret is to charge the battery slowly in constant current mode at very low current - perhaps 500mA, no more - over a long period.

Most people will not have access to a current variable supply but an easy answer is to put a bulb in series with the battery when on charge. If the battery is well down the bulb will light and restrict the current flow from the charger. A 21W flasher bulb usually works quite well.
