Best mobile for best coverage.

Hi,

we've been caravaning for nearly 2 years and have visited loads of sites. Some are favorites and others once or twice.

I have noticed that T Mobile dont seem to have great coverage and we are left without network coverage on a few sites. Can anyone recommend the best network or is it hit and miss.

Thanks

Sam

hi sam

myself and better half toured most of england and part of wales last year ( live in northern ireland). we both have mobiles on the 3g network. superb coverage practically everywhere. the exception being at windemere. tho it is my understanding that very poor reception there for all networks. we also use the 3 data card for web use. again ex. while in london we first used the t mobile data card but had to return it as very poor reception. at that time we were unable to get a 3 card fortunately did not have too long to wait. hope this helps. 3 have some good offers on at minute 500 mins

My answer would be Voda have the best coverage albeit I'm now with T-mobile and that appears 'almost' as good.

With regard to 3G, I'm lead to believe they use Voda's network if there is no 3G signal, if this is true it would be why they also have good overall coverage....but is it always 3G capable??

Thanks for that info, it sounds like 3g is the one to go with. Athough I miss the internet while we're away, Im happy to leave it at home. The only reason we have a mobile is for family to contact us and it would be good to have one phone just for family and turn the others off. We're are both self employed and the mobile and internet means work for us.

I'm on 3 and have used my phone all over the country (bar Scotland), never had a problem with reception at all.

I've got T mobile and the coverage is useless, I can't get a signal in my house unless I stand by the patio door or go upstairs and lean towards a window and we live within a city boundary, not the wilds of Derbyshire. My daughter has Orange and she can get a signal.

Hi to Sam and Will, strange old world, I an with T mobile never ever had a signal problem, Stayed at troutbeck head cc site in the lake district which is in a hollow below the road, next door neighbour came back very wet one day moaning about the reception, she could only get a signal if she climbed the hill to the outside road, when I told her that i had just been speaking to my daughter from inside the van using T mobile she was speachless.

Just back from a trip to Scotland Stirling castle area signal again okay.

Must admit never tried the phone out whilst crossing Dartmoor.

Hi folks,

I've started keeping a note of mobile phone reception on sites.Troutbeck Head.....no O2reception.....Vodafone...good reception.Hubby & I now carry O2 and Vodafone and hopefully if one is no good, then the other one will be.However, we have been to sites where both are rubbish.
