Hi i have posted about this b4 - but it happened again over the weekend - and im trying to prevent this from happening again

as it takes ages to clean off!!!

the black marks i think are coming from the exhaust and they really are staining the front of the van - the only thing that removes this is tcut and im sure this is due to damage my paintwork -

rather than finding ways to clean it better - does anyone have any ideas what it could be that is causing this ??

it has only been the last few trips this has started to happen-

is it perhaps a car service required - is there too much oil in the engine ?? is it something else that is causing these horrible black marks ???

any ideas welcomed!!!

Have a look on ebay I have seen covers for just the front of the van, dont know how they attach or if they are any good, have only ever seen one van under tow with one of these fitted.

Its worth a look

To have that amount of soot from your exhaust it sounds like you need a service and get them to check your exhaust emissions.

I dose my fuel with Millers fuel additive and this helps keep the system clean and improve mpg

Not sure if it would work, but was wondering if some cling film stretched across the front of the van may help as a temporary measure.

From your post I'm guessing that your vehicle has a diesel engine.

It looks as though your car is in need of a service with the engine oil, fuel, oil and air filters being replaced. Have the engine and gearbox checked for oil leaks which could be another source of oily deposits on the caravan especially if the vehicle uses automatic transmission.

A tail pipe deflector similar to the one from the link might help and there are various shapes and sizes available.

My faithful old Pajero started to leave similar marks on the front of our caravan, I tried various remedies including blocking the EGR valve but to no avail.

Rather than shell out for expensive work on the fuel pump and diesel injectors I replaced the old Trundle Truck with a newer model which leaves no marks, is much quicker and pulls like a train.
