Have not been for some years, but it was a very pretty site on a hillside, so no vast spread of 'vans. Easy access. Good walks for the none-too-fit and probably excellent walks for the fit.

Nice hilly countryside. Two or three nice NT places not too far away, and - then - the most spendid architechtural salvage and general junk (aka memoribilia) yard called Les Oakes - it it's still there well worth a visit.

Oh and within reach of Alton Towers (I'm told)

Tittesworth Reservoir and nature reserve is just a short walk away The Three Horse Shoes pub is also within walking distance and has a decent menu.

Further a field is Trentham Gardens which has quite an array of shops for the shopaholics:)

Leek, Buxton, Bakewell and Hartington are only a short drive away.

It is an excellent site with toilet blocks at both top and bottom of the site. However, the showers at the bottom have better water pressure (naturally) and the pitches close by are usually very popular. If you are disabled, or require some extra assistance , then contact the Wardens and they will reserve you a pitch close to the toilet blocks.

Like most sites in that area it is popular at weekends.

Also note that a mile along the road is a large C&CC site, so if one is full there is an alternative.

Leek itself is a pleasant small town and retains many of the local charms. 8 miles away is Waterhouses which is the start of the Leek and Manifold cycle way which follows the old track bed of the Leek and Manifold Light Railway. A very pleasant and flat cycle way and bikes can be hired at Waterhouses.

Like most, we have visited Blackshaw Moor, a very good site, exactly what you expect from a CC site, charming wardens, very clean & tidy.

Plenty to do, walking at the reservoir, also Derbyshire is on the borders so plenty of opportunities for cycling ie Tissington Trail, Ashbourne is also a pretty little town, if you like steam railways there is one close running a long side a canal.

very enjoyable recommend visit.
