Thanks to all the people who responded to my request for info on Maragowan cc site, the prospect of the site being prone to sudden flooding from the local river could be a problem as we are travelling from Essex.

Now Blair Drummond has not been mention in the previous 19 pages of this forum. Read all about the site on their web page , It looks quite attractive from the ariel photograph, juat wondering how loud the Safarie Park is with regards to animal noises, mind you a few Lion roars whould certainly be in competition with our Kerry Blue.

Hi Royston,

We have used the Blair Drummond site alot, usually as a night stop between Norfolk and the far North.

It used to be run by the CC, but is now affiliated, we last stayed in 2005, and were not as pleased with it as we had been in the past, however, still a very nice site.

We never noticed any noise from the Safari Park, it is a bit further up the road though!!

Hi Roystan,

Have visited this site on several occassion ( 3 during 2006) as it is only an hours drive from home.

The site is very quiet and up to the usual high standard expected of a CC site although it could do with a few more showers.

Never experienced any noise from the Safari Park as whilst whithin walking distance it is too far away for the noise to travel.

Would recommeend the Dobbies Garden Centre near by for lunch or The Bank Cafe in Callander - both vey reasonable - and Stirling City centre is only 6/7 miles away. Well worth a visit a generally good for parking.

Royston,

I don't think you will be disappointed at Blairdrummond. We have stayed a good number of times. The main area is within the old walled garden and is very sheltered. Lots to see and do in the vicinity. As a poster has said, it was CC but the estate took it "in house" albeit initially, at least, with the same wardens.
