Blinds Open or Shut

How do you all store your caravan blinds when van not in use?

I would reckon its best to store them open as there is less strain on the spring infact the spring is "relaxed" therefore should last longer.

Correct me if i'm wrong

Thats certainly my view, Davie. You tend to think it keeps prying eyes away when they're down but at the expense of the blinds not working so well after weeks/months of the springs being stretched. A cover is the answer for storage.

Easy - blinds open to save the springs

Then to save the interior from bleaching - either a cover or make some window shades from large cardboard boxes (careful with the scissors and definitely no running) so that the cardboard slides into the runners normally used by the blinds.

As previopusly stated the blinds should not be kept closed over a long period of time as it does weaken the springs. It is far cheaper and easier to renew faded curtains than the blinds so we keep the curtains closed over the storage period. By coincidence my neighbour has just bought a caravan for his retirement and we were talking today about this very same subject as he had his blinds closed to save the material inside fading. He is going away tomorrow for the weekend - lucky so and so - I will be tiling the kitchen floor, there's no justice in this world.

We closed our curtains, but found that two of the windows one over the sink and the other a long lower cupboard in our Bailey S6 Burgundy did not have curtains to close.

We use a small carpet sample from our local independent, placed inside the blind case fits and works perfectly.
