When I bought a 13 years old caravan, I found some items were in fact not serviced or properly serviced by professional as service checklist mentioned. I decide to do service myself. Some insurance companies require annual professional service, and other not, just mention caravan must be in roadworthy condition or in good state of repair. I don't see any damages to be covered are related to roadworthy condition. Has anyone's claim been denied for DIY service or for bad state of repair?

Over the many years I have been on the Forum I cannot recall such as situation as you describe.

The CAMC Super Cover says any caravan over 5 years old must be serviced annually by an AWS engineer. All the other covers beneath the Super cover don’t stipulate the same .

Like Clive in practice I’ve never seen such an issue as described on here or any other forum
Also a number of people on here do their own annual servicing.
The most important thing is be clear you are compliant with your insurers requirements

I found 10+ years caravans had service gap in last few years, dealer told me they were serviced by owners or maybe the owner skipped service

Its a very common clause applied by insurers to cars. Its a get out for them if, after a crash, its found that there was a serious defect on say the suspension, or the brakes etc. Seems perfectly reasonable to me.

I've never had a clause in my car insurance that required professional maintenance - usually just requires the car to be maintained in a roadworthy condition.

Some DIYers work to a higher standard than some workshops, including some franchised dealers!

Are you considering a running gear service or full service. Depending on usage some have a service every two years, but have the experience to check areas over. But of course areas such as gas, carbon monoxide etc require specialist kit and knowledge. So what areas are insurers looking to have covered? Some dealerships offer running gear services, or full services. So how do they align with insurers requirents?
