Block exemption expiring?

It seems that the EU Block Exemption Regulations (BER) of 2003 allowed UK residents to buy a new car and have it serviced and repaired anywhere. However, the regulations expire next year, but the independents are trying to get it continued into British law. I wonder if it will be phased into British legislation. This has been very low profile, but could affect thousands of motorists!

Yes it can if it had an expiry date when it was introduced - if the government does nothing to renew it then it would simply lapse
