Blue gas to Red

Folks

Currently I am using a 4.5 Blue calor gas system.

Which freezes quite nicly in the winter , (it certanly does in Scotland)

Can I just get a new regulator and switch over to the Red gas bottles.

Which I know does not freeze , unles it gets down to -12 C

The Van is approx 12 years old with Gas fridge / cooker / heater / shower

Will this work , or should I just get a nice big blanket for the gas tank.

Thanks for you advise

Matt

Just get a different regulator from your van shop, change the flexible hose too to be on the safe side and use red all year round. Your appliances should be ok as the regulator controls the pressure of gas being delivered to them. I believe the red gas has a freezing point of -50 C Brrrrrrrr!

Hello Matthew, Consideringthe age of your caravan, then yes as Mike suggests change the regulator. As a technical comment on Mikes propane "freezing point" - Propane LPG stops producing vapour (Gas) at -40C, but remains in liquid form to close to -273C (Abolute zero)In pactice you will have no worries in a typical UK winter. Happy Christmas
