Hi.

I took delivery of my new Toyota Rav 4 yesterday which has Bluetooth facilities. My mobile a Nokia 6288 is also Bluetooth enabled. At the dealers we got the system up and running fine but I want to transfer my contact details to the car system. I appear to be able to do this one by one although it cuts me off before I have told it the full number of a contact. Can I transfer all my contacts from my Sim Card to the car system in one go?

Thanks

Andrew

Hi Andrew,

I am not au fait with the Toyota system, but as daft as it sounds, not all mobile phones that have bluetooth, will work with all car bluetooth systems.

Both my wife and I were using Nokia 6233's which both worked brilliantly with our VW and on initial set up, every contact in the address books transferred into the car system.

Fairly recently, my wife upgraded her phone to the Nokia N95 and no matter what I did, I could not get the car to recognise the N95 as a bluetooth device.

After communicating with both VW & Nokia technical help, Nokia confirmed that the N95 did not support "Remote Sim Access Protocol" and would never work in our car.

As I was due to upgrade my own phone, Nokia requested a shortlist of phones that I was considering and they Emailed me confirmation of which of those phones supported RSAP and could therefore be used.

I don't know if this is the same as the problem that you are experiencing, but it may help,

Ken.

Had the same problem with my Jaguar X-type. If you go to the car manufacturers web site they may give you a list of phone's that are partially & fully compatible. My Sony Erricson was supposed to be fully compatible with the Jag system but I couldn't get the phonebook uploaded. I then tried to update the phone software on Sony's website but it still doesn't work :-(

Thankfully I can save my favorate phone numbers as voice tags on the car so I can dial most people simply by speaking their name.

Thanks for the responses, things have moved on a bit. The Nokia 6288 according to Toyota technical will and has paired with the Toyota system but does not have the facility to transfer contacts in one go. I either have to do it individually or forget it, so I will use the system as it is which is fine. I am due to change phone in Oct so will look more closely at available phones but as i am on a cheap contract with Three the choice is a bit limited.

Thanks

Andrew

you should also mind that the software on your phone is not compatible, i had this issue with a vodaphone plug in and go kit, in the end changed both the phone & my kit. I know just use a tomtom with bluetooth amazing technology.
