Hi all,
The last time we had the van out (last season) our hot water boiler wasnt working on either gas or lec I checked the fuses and they looked fine but still didnt work.
Before I get the service engineer in is there any thing else I can check over.
thanks in advance,
M.H.

The heater you have is a Truma Ultrastore, 10 ltr.
As far as not working on gas, I assume you have checked the gas isolation tap is open and that you removed the outside vent cover?

I also assume that you have a good supply of gas? and that all other gas appliances are working correctly?

I also assume that you made absolutely sure the water system was FULL before using any power source?

When you try and use gas do you get a green light on the control switch for the Ultrastore?

Do you hear a "clunk" from the heater?
What happens next?

As for the electric, I again, assume you NEVER switched it on without making certain it was full?#

Have you got another switch somewhere marked Water Heater? as some vans have a secondary isolating switch apart from the MCB in the mains distribution unit.
The worst case scenario re the electrics is the heater element has failed and needs replacing.

When you say some more about the gas side, I will be able to tell more.

on the gas side the gas is on and it goes through the starting precedure then it clunks and the light goes red we usually run it on the lec but even that was not working we were basically getting the red light

Lets get one thing sorted out to start with.
The Red light on the wall control for the Ultrastore has absolutely nothing to do with the electric heating element.
The wall switch with the temperature dial around the outside bezel is for Gas operation ONLY.
The Electric side is a straight through connection to the mains distribution box, with maybe a secondary switch near the heater.

The gas going to Red indicates no gas or the outside cover is on, or a fault with the PCB
As you have , or seem to have, both fuel surce failures I would suggest getting an engineer to look at it.
If th emains element has failed it is replaceable, as are any gas side problems.

If you haven't used gas for some time to heat the water then it can take several tries to clear the air out of the pipe. I, like you, mainly use electric but check the gas running at the start of each season. It took mine four tries before it ignited and ran.

as said by Damian, have you removed the cover from the outside vent.?The gas will fail to ignite if this is not removed first.
