I'm wondering if someone will explain to me the procedures on booking into a site, Do you phone in advance and get your credit card out over the phone and pay in advance or do you just arrive and get sited if there's a spare stand available? What if you wanted to stay up to three weeks in places, would you need to pay for 21 days in advance or can you pay a day at a time like you can do with a mobile phone (Pay As You Go)??

It all depends on the site, CAravan Club has no deposit but frown on you if you dont show. Some sites will ask for a deposit and in the case of speical offers, they may ask for the whole amount up front. Deposits are usually so much per week. So three weeks, three times the deposit. Dont forget that with both CC and CCC you usually have to be a member. Some of their sites will take none members.

Length of stay and extending really depends on how busy the site is and should be taken on an individual basis.

Just arriving on spec is not really a good as many sites are getting full at this time of year.

Just to clarify the Caravan Club are fine as long as you cancel at least 72 hours before booked arrival day.
Agree that turning up 'on spec' is not a good idea. We've found that depending on how far away the booking is then some take a small deposit and some don't take anything - depends on the site itself. If you are booking only a few days away then they will normally ask for the whole lot.

With the wonderful world of the tinternet you can book many on line, read what the site has to offer, and indeed read reviews from other caravaners, but take some of the reviews with an open mind,
Have you looked at UK Campsite just maybe some where to start there are many others but that will give you an idea of what is available,
