Bordeaux area

Next year we will be spending a month mid Aug to mid Sept in France. Does anyone know of any good sites in Bordeaux area also anywhere to stay for a few nights on the way down also somewhere different to break the journey on the way back. We have got the cheap deal from Caravan Club £71 Dover/Dunkirk. We plan on using Camping cheques and possibly the ASCI card/Castel Camping.

The Camping Cheque site Domaine de la Barbanne, at St Emilion (not far from Bordeaux) gets good reviews from people who've been there, as does La Citadelle at Loches. We've overnighted there, and it's a lovely site within walking distance of the town. Ideal for a few days on the way down to Bordeaux/area.

You could go a similar way back, but stay at Les Cochards at St Aignan - alongside the River Cher.

We've never overnighted on a Cheque site that we wouldn't go back to for a longer stay. We haven't been back to them all - but most have one or more features which make them very attractive as sites for a stay of more than one night.

Barbanne is a lovely site not too far from Bordeaux and surrounded by vineyards and very close to the lovely town/village of St Emillion
