Braemar Highland Gathering

Have booked onto CC site over the weekend of the gathering, and would like any advise on grandstands at the event (which have good views, ones to avoid, etc). I've been on the website, but only the prices are shown, not the locations.

Also, any must see places in the area?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Paul, cannot answer your question on the gathering but keen to see the responses as we are also booked in at this time. Went to the site last year but unfortunatly left the day before the gathering. Hardly used the car all week as there are loads of walking and mountain biking routes on the doorstep.

It won't really matter which stand you are in - it's not a big arena!

There are many National Trust for Scotland castles in the area which are worth a visit. Also worth taking a run over the Cockbridge - Tomintoul road to Speyside. Lots of hillwalking and gentler walking in the area if you are interested. Also, as Richard S says, there are lots of tracks suitable for mountain biking (they are not signposted - it's a DIY job!). You can visit distilleries and see how the "water of life" is made. Glenfiddich Distillery (the only distillery to bottle on site) at Dufftown have very professional tour guides who are very informative.

You won't run out of things to see and do!

Malcolm
