Brake trouble

We had to move our Coachman VIP for some work to be done and it moved off ok and backwards, but then when we moved forward the brake came on - handle straight up - any ideas ?? We've been away this year once too. It does thi severy time now - after going backwards

If the handle is straight up than the brake is on. Of course, it will move backwards because of the design. Release the handbrake to the flat position.

Hi.
I assume that you mean that as you pull away after reversing, the hand brake pops up?
Its not something silly like the breakaway cable is looped round something?
once, When i was moving the 'van by hand the jockey wheel kept swinging round & activating the brakes! took me a few minutes to work it out!

yes - operator error. We hooked the cable around the ball as we were only going 50 yards (ok,ok I know.....) and as we went backwards it hooked over the plate behind the ball and pulled the brake on as we went forwards. With 3 cars waiting for us to get out of the way just didn't notice. That's the total number of cars on our road in a day and they all came along at once !!! That night when we moved it to find out what was happening it was obvious.

Awww - well we've only been caravanning 23 years - still it happens !

Easy to do...
I work as a bus mechanic & we have been called to breakdowns for stuff like 'The bus won't move' , the cause of this can be the engine isn't running!!
At least its sorted out & you'll have no more problems.
