Breakdown cover

I have breakdown cover on my car, with Landrover Assist.
They obviously cover the caravan if there is an issue with the car but not the caravan if it breaks down.
So who do people use to cover the caravan if or when it breaks down?
Been looking at Mayday but seems daft having to pay to cover the car twice.

There was a similar question asked not long ago and if I recall correctly there wasn’t one that just covered the caravan.
Mayday and CCC are geared specifically to caravan and Motorhome touring in the benefits they offer. But of course they include the tow car too. But there are advantages to that if the car breakdown on a caravan trip.

Cancel the LR Assist and switch to Mayday. Problem solved. We had similar with RAC included in car purchase, but still took out Mayday. After all the LR cots tens of thousands and the caravan another couple of thousand so spending £80 of extra breakdown cover for peace of mind is a no brainer.

We use a GEM family policy. It covers both our cars, our caravan, and our daughter's car. Not sure that if you had a problem with the car and are towing that any breakdown company will also relay the caravan unless the policy specifically says so. Worth checking for peace of mind.

There seems to be no right answer to this. We found no policy that would cover the caravan in these circumstances without the car cover. Possibly the premium for a caravan only policy would e so small the firms involved do not think it worth their while but there is certainly a market for this.
The GEM cover is a standard policy and you are still paying for the car twice.

You only pay for the car twice if you have another policy. We only pay for GEM that covers everything whether your towing or not. So one policy, one payment.

Very difficult to see how a caravan could "break down" other than suffering a puncture which will be covered by your cars policy when it's attached. If involved in a collision etc then it's the cars insurance that would kick in (again if attached to the towcar)
I am sure someone will come up with a theoretical caravan breakdown though 🙄

Not the caravan but the car may be issue especially if out for the day and it breaks down and cannot be repaired and the caravan needs a tow home. Sadly we experienced this about two years ago.

GEM will relay your car AND caravan home or to a site if you are going on holiday. If they can't be repaired whilst on your holiday they will then relay both the car and caravan home.

Never heard of GEM so interesting. We have top level cover with Mayday which includes the chauffeur if unable to drive and it is with two cars. Cost is £130 per annum.
