I have gone with green flag, £50 and covers the caravan :)

If you are just looking for car recovery, that doesn't include your van, Start Recue are cheaper at about £30/yr.

I would be more concerned they took it from your account, did they not write/email you to inform you of the increase? Or have you agreed to an annual re-newal, if so I would do as you are doing look around and go back to them with the lower quotes and at least get a reduction. Have they taken the first months payment for the renewal year, if so you could be on a deadline to exit and they may well charge an "admin" fee. Good luck

Certainly recommend Green Flag, dropped RAC like a hot brick after paying through the nose for Continental Cover with caravan (C&CC) and being badly let down on an Austrian motorway.

If you are a member of either the clubs they have deals with Green Flag and RAC with more cover for less money. We use the Mayday service 9Green Flag) through the CC and have found it very good on the two call outs we have had.

If you go for Green Flag or RAC make sure you go through one of the clubs as as the club cover does not have the caravan restrictions that the normal Green Flag and RAC cover has

Green Flag is called Mayday with the Caravan Club amd the RAC cover is with the Camping and Caravan club

And all shockingly expensive! If you're planning foreign travel then check out ADAC. About half the price (or less) than any of the British clubs, and twice the service. This is the voice of experience, trust me!

Thanks for the advice guys,,,mine WAS through C&CC and it still came in at £155, which was a bit of a shock.

I'm going to speak with Green Flag and RAC and try sort it out.

We (Mrs Keith and I) had our RAC joint membership renewal a month or so ago which appeared to have increased somewhat. I'd looked at the offer on the C&CC site and rang the RAC to discuss my renewal. Basically I told them I was cancelling due to the massive increase. That said, I then asked about the C&CC offer which they put through even though I didn't have an offer code.
Long story short .... better cover as the 'van is now part of the membership cover and £80 per year less.
We'll see what the quote is nest year ............. :eek:hmy:

I use CC scheme with Green Flag(Mayday). Wife's, Daughter's, son's and family car/tug came to about £127 last Dec for the lot. Also get a discount on European breakdown with that. Don't take home start tho.

Well, the cost of having breakdown cover has proved itself ....... Mrs Keith and I were off for a long weekend Friday when the car lost power on the motorway and didn't sound too healthy.
Phone call to RAC and back on the way within 2 hours thankfully, although the cover would have allowed recovery of the 'van home and the car to the dealers.
Glad we were able to carry on, we had a great weekend with the weather! :woohoo:

Well, I thought I'd post this ......
Having renewed our RAC membership with the C & CC deal, we had the misfortune to break down on the motorway with the 'van on.
I informed the call centre of this and they sent a patrol in a van but assured me that they could either take me to my destination or recover the 'van to my home address and the car to a dealer if the patrol couldn't get us going. The patrolman did say he'd been informed and had rang his mate with the recovery truck to head our way to reduce time in the event of needing recovery
Happily the problem was fixed and we made our destination, albeit slightly late after our 2 hour unscheduled stop.
Can't fault the service and the benefits of the C & CC have proved their worth. :cheer:

Keith
