hello, we have not travelled to france before with the van or the dogs..so, we would like to go to brittany, we would use the tunnel as i want the dogs with me, so first thing is i need a vet before we get on the tunnel on way back is this right, then we need a site that is open possibly before april...am i being silly thinking im going to find one...we cant go this year as it will take time for the dogs to get their passports and we have just got a new puppy so the earliest would be march april next year....didnt really want to go in the summer....i do like to plan things and research things so as much info that would be helpful is very much appreciated, we have driven in france before but not with the van...is there any guides worth buying ...thankyou to anyone who can advise regards edwina

Hi,

Always recommend Camping St Louis in Ardres www.campingstlouis.com/modulosite2/fiche.php?id_bouton=688&id=133&fr=0

May not be open early enough for you, but if it is the English speaking vet in Ardres is highly recommended - 42eu - a few weeks ago for our dog.

They are based in the town square and you can book an appointment by email - Clinique Vets du Camp du Drap d'Or

Finally if you enjoy wine you can not go wrong with www.boursot.co.uk/index.html

Siuated in the town they have a wonderfull selection.

Hi Ed,

If you are looking for a site in Brittany I can recommend Merlin l'Enchanteur near Ploermel. It's very dog friendly and the English owner is most helpful. There are great walks and there are local shops a short walk from the site. It's in the CC guide under Ploermel although the small village it's near is called Loyat. I guess it's about 370 miles from Calais, so two easy hops or one longer one.
