Broken Jockey Wheel Lever

My lever sheered off and its stuck in the screw in part of the bracket, any ideas how to get the broken bit out so I can screw a new lever in?? thanks...

Hi Nick,

One way would be to drill out the broken stud. Ensure you use a sharp drill of a smaller diameter than the broken piece, drill through the centre with a pilot drill then again with a larger diameter drill then hopefully the broken piece should fall out. The important thing is not to damage the thread. Trust this might help - Phil

I had the same problem, bought a stud extractor set for the job, then found knocking the bracket gently with a hammer 'vibrated' the broken part loose. Might just be worth trying before going along the stud extractor route.

Nick take care if using a stud extractor. They are made from material much harder than that you are extracting, I've them break in the past, leaving you in a worse position. Drilling out is probably a safer option
