Bulldog mini HD hitchlock.... no keys

Afternoon all,

I've been given a Bulldog mini HD hitch lock, however it doesn't come with any keys.

Is it possible to drill out the lock and replace it or have I basically been given 3 kgs of scrap metal.

Rog.

"in theory" seeing as it has had to be assembled it should be possible to un-assemble it and renew the lock.
however drilling it may well make it scrap metal, as these locks are designed to be tamper proof and thats is how a thief would attempt to remove it. looks like scrap to me.

The locks on these are said to be "drill resistant"
The locksmith will probably have a minimum charge for this sort of work.

So its possibly DIY as Sproket mentions or alternatively have a look on "Preloved" there are about 30 of these advertised in various parts of the country complete with 2 keys with a median price of around £15..... I did see one advertised complete with keys for a tenner!
So just getting a new hitch lock may be worth considering.....and you never know the key may fit the old unit..
slim chance but its possible

Update, after spending a couple of hours trying to drill the lock I can confirm that the bulldog hitch lock is infact a bloody good bit of kit.....lol

I've drawn stumps and got another from eBay.... With keys...lol

Hi Roger,
That sounds like a good move to me... 🙂
It looks like the feature of being "drill resistant" is actually correct!

Its not often that folks put these sort of claims to the test, so your own experience and feedback with trying to drill the lock is most useful for other folks who may be contemplating buying and using one.
