C-Max and S-Max Automatics - Advice

We have been looking at purchasing either a C-Max or S-Max auto 2.0L. We are leaning towards the S-Max because of the 7 seats and we are worried that the C-Max may not tow as effectively as the S-Max. We do not have a caravan at present but in picking a car we want to give ourselves access to a good choice, ie buy a car with a highish kerbweight 1500+. Any advice would be welcome.

I assume you are looking at a 2.0 diesel s-max, ours tows very well but the 2.0 petrol is gutless and has a max tow weight of only 1100kg

Garfield, Yes it would be the diesel, and the auto version that has just been released. Thanks for your comments.

We tow with a C-max 2006 Petrol Auto max tow weight is 1300Kg for Auto but 1500Kg for manual.Car pulls van at about 95% loading as if it was not there.Best tow car we have ever had.I personally love the electric handbrake but others I know hate it.Superb if you have got an arthritic hand!

I tow with a 2.0ltr auto c-max best car I have ever had.Our van is 1300kgs all up and it tows a dream.

Is it a petrol or diesel be cause the 1.6 petrol has a low max tow.
