Cadac Vs gas bbq with lavarock

I'm thinking of changing from a charcoal BBQ to a gas one and fancy the look of Cadac ones with all the extra bits. I understand that they don't have any 'lavarock' and instead have some sort of diffuzer to seperate the flames from the food. Does anyone have any thoughts/experience as to whether this system works ok.Or if the 'BBQ taste' has lost out a bit can I just add a few wood chips to get it back?

The one currently on offer from Lidl looks a good buy.

Amazingly, it is a lava rock gas barbecue, and the add shows a Jamie Oliver look-alike cooking chops on it - and it's not even connected to a gas bottle!

We've had a Cadac with the extras for the past couple of years and wouldn't go back to the charcoal BBQ. It's so much easier to clean, the food tastes lovely, and you are not restricted to BBQ use only, as you have the griddle where you can cook your bacon and eggs as well. We also use the stir fry pan, it make a delicious "fresh" tasting plate of food.

We have never had the need to add wood chips!

the cadac wins all the time it is a fantastic piece of kit and we allso would never go back to a traditional barbeque.

The only bit we dont use though is the bbq option as we found it to extremely difficult to clean with all those little holes, we just use the griddle parts.

Couldn't agree more - Cadac more than worth the outlay - very well-made, easy to keep clean, quick to set up. A bit heavy to lug around but that's the only thing against it.
