Can anyone suggest the best route to Sarlat, don't mind going around Paris, but have been advised that Rouen may be a good alternative, any info would be appreciated,Thanks.
Though many travel via Paris,we avoid it like the Plague or an extra hole in the head! It's like advisng drivers to use the M25 when there is a less troublesome alternative.
Rouen and Dreux route is easy and far less likely to suffer heavy trafiic than Lille and Paris route
Just back from Payrac south of Brive used the A20 all dual carriageway then straight on to Toll road at Orleans to junction 12 Chatres,I think it was 15_ with caravan.
No trouble the rest of the way but we stopped overnight at St. Pierre du Vauvray campsite. Then took the road to Rouen via Pont L'Arche to avoid toll. Did the same at the Abbeyville junction and took the N1 (now re-numbered) We clocked 535 miles
