Calling Bailey Senator owners

As I got no response to this the first time I'm reposting under a new title. I'd be grateful for feedback from other Senator owners as I want to sort/get dealer to sort this problem so that I can get the 'van back into safety of storage site - it's on the road outside our house at the moment.

Whilst away last week "testing" our "new" Bailey Senator Arizona (2006) 'van, A 2006 Bailey Senator Arizona, I found a problem with the door lock.

The plastic catch on the door frame, with which the lock engages, is only screwed into the gap between the metal frame and the caravan side wall. The screws, partly hidden by rubber seal, easily pull out - so much for high security lock!!!!!

Should the screws actually have been put through the metal door frame??

Should the gap between the wall and frame be non-existent? I did try undoing the clamps that hold frame to the door to see if I could pull them closer together but without any success.

I can obvioulsy take the 'van back to the dealer but as it is would involve a 60 mile round trip to take it and another to collect it at their inconvenient hours it might be quicker to fix myself.

Hi Tim

I would get the dealers to sort it as you might invalidate your warrenty by doing it yourself. I know its a long trek ( I'm doing over 120 miles this afternoon to collect our 'van from its service...the new van- Senator- is coming from a local dealer only 23 miles away) but its better than not being able to fix it and have them say you messed it up even if you know its no worse than it was at delivery.

Tim I have just looked at mine and the screws go into the wood which is directly behind the alluminium door frame, but I do say they are right in the edge of the wood.I suggest you push the black catch plate towards the washroom and try to fit the screws at a slight angle so they engage into the timber.

I took the 'van back to Campbell's Service Centre this morning this morning. Door catch re-fixed whilst I waited along with a few other bits and pieces.

They, also, provided me with a new high security lock as they had only been able to provide me with one key. I had to fit it myself as they did not have one at the service centre only at their shop a couple of miles away. I am now the proud owner of a new high-security lock with 4 new shiny keys to fit it!!! Plus a secure door catch to hold it!!!

All sorted now and ready to out 'van back into storage where it will be safe for a couple of weeks until our next outing, YIPPEE!!!

Thanks again for all the advice and suggestions

Best wishes.

Tim
