How long are you staying? What sort of site are you looking for? Most of the sites are deliberately sited along the river, as that is what most people want from a site in the Ardeche, but don't have a problem with flooding. We've been many times in August, and seen river levels rise hugely, but with no threat to the sites. We usually stay at Camping l'Ardechois at Vallon Pont D'Arc, Les Ranchisses at Chassiers, or at Ranc Davaine at St Alban Auriolles - all alongside rivers. What about Domaine d'Imbours which is up at the top, on a plateau with quick access to Vallon and the Gorges of the Ardeche - no flood danger there - and looks a nice site. Higher up in the Ardeche 'department' but not alongside the Ardeche river is Domaine de Plantas - which is a site we always intend to visit, but never have done.

Hiya, We came back from Ranchisses on July 10th. It is a lovely site! Owners cannot do enough to help. All the staff are outstandingly polite and friendly. The facilities are excellent - shop, bar, 3 pools, tennis, table tennis, petanque, free canoeing(!) children's club pitch & putt etc - and the Auberge serves great food (frequented by locals). It is about 20km to the gorges from the site (near Largentieres), possibly incorrectly spelt) through dramatic scenery but we loved it. Pitches large and well marked. you can get fully serviced pitches or share water from a tap.
